Jeep tours with kids

Children love the Natural Pool and the bouncing truck that gets them there. Whether yours are old enough depends on the operator, and on how they cope with an hour of rough road.

Yes, you can take children on a jeep safari in Aruba, and plenty of families do. Each operator sets its own minimum age, from 2 on the ABC Natural Pool safari to 8 with Fofoti, and the park itself lets everyone under 17 in free.

The harder questions are the ride, which is rough, and the pool, which means a scramble down rocks into sea water. This guide goes operator by operator, then covers the bumps, the steps and what to book instead if your kids are too small.

The quick answer

Minimum ages: 2 on the ABC Natural Pool safari, 3 on ABC's island day, 4 with EZ Raider, Around Aruba Tours and the Arikok safari truck, 5 with AGW, 6 with De Palm and 8 with Fofoti. Children under 17 enter Arikok free at the gate, but ABC charges its $25 fee per person. With kids under 6, think twice: the road is rough and the pool rocky. The air-conditioned landmarks tour, with 90 minutes at Baby Beach, skips the bumps.

What is the minimum age for a jeep tour in Aruba?

Between 2 and 8, depending on the operator. ABC takes the youngest, and Fofoti sets the highest limit.

Do children pay the Arikok National Park fee?

Not at the gate: everyone under 17 enters free. On a tour, it depends on how the operator charges.

The Aruba Conservation Foundation charges $22 per adult and nothing for children under 17. On tours that include the fee, kids add nothing for it. On a rental or the private tour, only the adults pay at the gate.

ABC Tours is the exception to watch. Its listings say an extra “$25 per person will be charged upon check in”, with no child exception. Two adults and two children pay $100 there, against $44 at the gate. Fofoti lists $20 per person; ask whether that applies to your children before you go. The full rundown is in the 2026 park fee post.

Is a jeep tour too bumpy for young children?

For under-6s it often is. The park tracks are rough for an hour or more, and every operator's health warnings apply to children as well.

A parent on the Arikok safari truck: “it’s a rough ride to get there and back and a bit rocky and slippery getting into the pool. I wouldn’t recommend for small kids (maybe 6 or under).” Others disagree. An ABC guest was pleased to report: “Also brought my 2 year old on this excursion!”

Check the seat rules for toddlers. ABC lists infant seats as available. EZ Raider has none and does not allow children on laps. Sit small children between two adults, near the front, where the truck bounces least. For kids who get car sick, ABC guests report the guides take care of it: “My mother gets motion sick and they made sure she had a great time.”

Can kids swim in the Natural Pool?

Yes, when it is open and calm and an adult stays close. The pool is sea water inside a rock rim, and the way in is over slippery rock.

Most children love it. An ABC parent: “Kids loved the pool and the guides did a great job explaining the history.” Another described a rougher day: “the water was rough and my 10 yr old got a little nervous but the tour guides Mark and Josh were excellent at helping us out of the water.”

Getting there means about 100 steps down and up again, so plan to carry toddlers. Weak swimmers should wear a swim vest you bring from home. An AGW guest found no snorkels to fit little kids, so pack a child-size mask. If the rangers close the pool because of waves, nobody swims, children or adults: see the Natural Pool guide.

Which Aruba jeep tour is best for families?

The Arikok safari truck and AGW for value with the fee included, EZ Raider for a small group, and the private tour for your own pace.

  • Arikok safari truck, from 4: the park fee, snacks and pickup included, Fontein Cave, then Baby Beach. One parent: “Snacks a hit with the kids.”
  • AGW, from 5: the lowest all-in price, snacks, Baby Beach and pickup from hotels and the cruise port.
  • EZ Raider, from 4: sixteen guests at most, two caves, and a private option. A guest wrote that the guide “went above and beyond to help kids and older riders.”
  • Private open-air tour, from 4: book the 3-hour option for short attention spans, or more for a family day.
  • ABC Natural Pool safari, from 2: the most time at the pool, but $25 per child at check-in.

How long is too long for kids?

Half-day tours of 4 to 5 hours suit most children. The 8-hour island day is a lot for under-10s.

The ABC island day leaves at 8:30 sharp and runs about eight hours, with lunch. Older kids who like seeing everything do fine; little ones fade. The Arikok safari truck's 5 hours include the drive from Palm Beach, and the private tour starts at 3 hours.

Plan the basics. There are no restrooms at the Natural Pool, so use the stops before it, with a little cash for the ones that charge. Lunch is only served on ABC tours. Pack snacks and plenty of water for everyone else.

What should kids wear and bring?

A swimsuit underneath, water shoes, a cap with a strap, sunglasses and a towel. Add snacks and a child-size mask.

The rocks into the pool are the reason for water shoes: they are sharp, wet and slippery, worse for small feet. Loose hats blow away in the open truck. Use reef-safe sunscreen, since sunscreen with oxybenzone is banned in Aruba, and reapply after the swim.

A bandana helps with the dust, and a change of clothes makes the ride back far more pleasant. The full list is in what to wear on a jeep tour.

What if your kids are too young for off-roading?

Book the air-conditioned landmarks tour, or drive yourself to Baby Beach. Both skip the bumps.

The full-day landmarks tour is a coach tour, not a jeep tour: seven hours in an air-conditioned vehicle, with infants on laps and infant seats available. It stops at the aloe factory, the California Lighthouse, Alto Vista, the Natural Bridge site and the Casibari boulders, then spends 90 minutes at Baby Beach. It does not enter Arikok or visit the Natural Pool. A guest summed up the beach: “Baby Beach is a good option for families with small children.”

Bring your own shade. Another guest found beach chairs only rented for the whole day, at $80. Keep children inside the lagoon, away from the currents at its mouth.

Frequently asked questions

Can a 2-year-old go on a jeep tour in Aruba?
